Venture Tax Incentive Associate

CapGains is a fast-growing company specializing in innovative financial services and solutions. Our mission is to provide seamless, reliable, and accessible support regarding certain tax incentives to our clients. We primarily serve venture capital (VC) firms, helping them optimize their investment strategies through effective use of tax incentives, including Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS) / IRC Section 1202. We are expanding our client service team to help clients navigate the complexities of QSBS and other tax incentives.

Role Overview:
As a QSBS analyst at CapGains, your primary responsibility will be to advise Venture Capital and corporate clients in optimizing for the benefits available under QSBS and other tax incentives. You will also be responsible for research / analysis involving related matters.  This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented accountant/finance or other related professional eager to contribute to a dynamic FinTech company and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise corporate and VC clients on strategies for complying with and optimizing for the benefits available under QSBS and other tax incentives.
  • Perform research and draft analysis on tax incentive related matters.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on financial regulations, securities law, and other applicable legal standards, particularly those affecting Venture Capital (VC).
  • Support client onboarding and relationship management by delivering clear, actionable advice
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on outreach strategies
  • Represent CapGains at industry events, webinars, and client meetings
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships

Qualifications:

  • Background in accounting, finance, law, or a related field (JD, CPA, or MBA preferred but not required)
  • 1-5 years of experience in professional services, preferably within the early stage company and/or Venture Capital sectors.
  • Strong interest in understanding and working through complexities of tax incentives (i.e. Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS) – IRC Section 1202)
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to distill complex topics for diverse audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism.
